About
Amanda Mollindo examines how environments and power structures affect our lives. She draws upon her personal experiences, identity, and observations to connect to broader narratives about family, autonomy, and place. Her upbringing near the U.S.-Mexico border and as the daughter of teen parents has long-shaped her creative practice. Amanda’s adjacent work in social justice advocacy serves as an additional lens to inform her art.
Amanda graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Photography from Arizona State University in 2015 and currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona. While photography remains her primary discipline, she incorporates video, sound, fiber, bookmaking, and other mediums to explore topics of significance. Beyond maintaining a creative practice, she works full-time in nonprofit communications, is a member of the artist-run collective, Eye Lounge, and proudly serves on the board of [nueBOX], an arts organization serving local performance-based artists.
