• Amanda Mollindo’s piece, “Spiraled Fractions,” was inspired by a Marcel curling iron found in the Chandler History Museum’s collection. Using pieces of her own heat-curled hair, Amanda considers the artificial shapes meant to replace her natural wavy texture. Strands stitched to muslin wrapped around an embroidery hoop, she is interested in subverting expectations of domesticity, beauty, and acceptability.
